Feb 28, 2007 Hurley in Hawaii, Day 1 From Hurley TM Aaron Astorga: "On February 5th, 2007 the Hurley skate team embarked on a three islands journey to film for our upcoming skate video project soon to be released this summer. The crew was Andre Genovesi, Nitlon Neves, Diego Bucchieri, James Atkin, Justin Strubing, Kris Markovich, and Robert Lopez-Mont. Once the crew reached our first destination, the island of Oahu, we were greeted by local Hawaiian rippers and Hurley team riders Nick Yamasato and Chris "Applenuts" Awong who would be our hosts and tour guide for the next four days. Once the crew was off the plane and settled into our hotel it was only an hour or two before we were out skating and shooting photos and video. Slap magazine photographer Sean Peterson was on had to document all the action so be on the lookout for the tour article coming out soon in Slap magazine. The first spot we hit was crazy, it used to a dolphin tank where people could see and pet dolphins. Tight transitions and a smooth blue surface made for a super fun session. The viewing windows on the sides of the tank were a challenge to ride over and there was also a small divider wall to do tricks on. The spot was super fun and the crew was excited to be skating this crazy spot just off the plane. The next day we didn't have to travel far to hit up some virgin spots just across the street from our hotel. It's amazing you can still find untouched spots right under your nose, or at least right under the local guy's noses. They had never even skated the spot and were blow away that we were the first. Robert, Nilton, and Andre destroyed this gap off a wall and out over a pole. Andre kick flipped over it with style, Robert backside 180'd over it and Nilton nose bonked the tip of the pole with amazing control. Just across the way the boys tapped yet another untouched spot. Robert Frontside 5-0'd the curved ledge while Nilton did a handful of tricks on it as well." Come back tomorrow for more photos and stories from the Hurley Skate trip!
